Marguerite Makers: Featured Artist Talk

June 7 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Join Artist-in-Residence C. Fausto Cabrera in conversation with community artists Brit Sigh and Jules Bowman as they explore themes in their work and shine a light on process.

Brit Sigh is a Minneapolis-based artist blending magical realism with modern Black narratives. His vibrant paintings center Black youth, resilience, and imagination, creating worlds where beauty, power, and vulnerability coexist.

Jules Bowman is a multidisciplinary artist, muralist, and yoga teacher whose work centers on connection, mindfulness, and community. Through a blend of mixed media, symbolism, and storytelling, her art invites reflection and presence. Rooted in both creative expression and contemplative practice, she uses her work to illuminate the common threads that connect us, our shared need for belonging, and our capacity for love, grief, joy, healing, and compassion.

C. Fausto Cabrera is an artist and writer whose work has appeared in Denver Quarterly and The Antioch Review. He co-authored The Parameters of Our Cage with photographer Alec Soth, reviewed by The New Yorker. His Inherited Scars series has been exhibited at the Weisman Art Museum and the Cargill Gallery, and his pastel work has been featured on the cover of The Washington Post Magazine. Cabrera’s art practice, which transforms trauma into handmade paper and visual narrative, was highlighted in Kim Johnson’s documentary series, Sustainability. His work embodies Outlaw Excellence where survival, imagination, and beauty collide.
